"I'm hoping counselling can fix me."
It's one of the conversations I have more often than you might expect.
Sometimes it's said with a smile.
Sometimes through tears.
Sometimes quietly, almost apologetically.
"I'm hoping counselling can fix me."
My answer is always the same.
"I wish I could."
I wish I could take away someone's anxiety.
I wish I could remove grief.
I wish I could erase painful memories or stop the inner critic that tells someone they're not enough.
If I could, I genuinely would.
But counselling isn't about fixing people.
It's about understanding people.

Over the years I've learned that lasting change rarely comes from somebody else giving us the answers.
It comes from finally making sense of what's has been happening inside us.
Why do I react like this?
Why does this situation affect me so deeply?
Why do I keep finding myself in the same patterns?
Those are the questions that begin to create change.
That's why I created The LAYERS Method™.
Not as a set of instructions.
But as a framework for understanding.
Each stage invites us to slow down, become curious and respond to ourselves with greater compassion.
Not because understanding instantly removes pain.
But because understanding often changes our relationship with it.
Over the coming months I'll be exploring how The LAYERS Method™ can help us make sense of anxiety, relationships, grief, burnout, self-worth and many of the challenges we experience throughout life.
The six letters were never the destination.
They were simply the introduction.
Now the real journey begins.
